PNTCD MEP Cristian Terhes in the Plenary Session of the European Parliament - EU citizens have the right to know the price of vaccines and the contractual clauses regarding who was responsible for their adverse side effects
On September 16, 2021, the Plenary Session of the European Parliament debated the situation of vaccine contracts at EU level, the debate starting from the lack of transparency of the content of these contracts. Speaking on this subject from the European Parliament office in Bucharest, PNTCD MEP Cristian Terhes said: “Dear colleagues, We have heard here in this Plenary that we are now being told that these vaccine contracts are classified to protect the interests of companies. But I ask you, but who protects the interests and rights of the citizens of the European Union? EU citizens have the right to know the price of these vaccines and, in particular, the contractual clauses as to who is responsible for the adverse side effects of these vaccines. When the Green Digital Certificate was discussed, Commissioner Reynders Didier said in this Plenary, and I quote: “so far the effects of the vaccines are not completely known.” Is it right then for European bureaucrats or politicians to expose European citizens to the risks and negative effects of vaccines that are not yet fully known?
But should citizens not know who is actually responsible if there are such side effects? Pfizer, for example, changed its leaflet and acknowledged that its vaccine can cause myocarditis and pericarditis, especially among young people. It is unfair, therefore, to condition, through the Digital Green Certificate, the citizens of the European Union to exercise their rights based on the injection with such a medical product whose side effects are not yet completely known. Beyond the lack of transparency regarding these vaccines, there is another problem. It has been said publicly for months that these vaccines are the only solution to stopping the coronavirus pandemic. However, we see countries with the highest vaccination rate as having the highest infection rate in the world, which contradicts all the rhetoric we have been told for months. The EU has today arrived from a space of freedom, where the fundamental rights of any person are respected and protected, in a camp, where the exercise of fundamental rights is related to obtaining a green certificate. This certificate is issued upon receipt of this vaccine, which does not stop the vaccinated person from becoming ill or spreading the disease, or on the basis of an RT-PCR test, which gives very large errors.
